NEC Nijmegen 0 - 3 Ajax Amsterdam 27th Nov 2011 Miralem Sulejmani scored twice as Ajax brushed aside NEC Nijmegen in a one-sided second half in the Eredivisie at De Goffert Stadion.
The sides were locked at 0-0 at the interval but it was Ajax who were able to up the ante after the restart, Sulejmani leading the way with straightforward goals in the 53rd and 78th minutes.
Substitute Davy Klaassen wrapped up the scoring eight minutes from time.
NEC had started the match in positive fashion and had the best of the opening 10 minutes.
The first chance of the game saw John Goossens' left-wing cross find Nick van der Velden in a dangerous position and only Ajax goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer to beat.
Van der Velden got his shot away from 12 yards but Vermeer was on hand with the save.
NEC had another sight of goal soon after, Nathaniel Will collecting Abdeslam Ibrahim's pass before running towards the penalty area and striking just wide of the post.
Ajax finally responded when Toby Alderweireld headed Theo Janssen's free-kick wide in the 18th minute.
Ruben Ligeon and Nicolas Lodeiro then combined in the 21st minute only for the latter to miss the target.
Lodeiro squandered another chance and there were shots from Christian Eriksen and Janssen following a good team move four minutes from time but there was no first-half goal.
Sulejmani ended the stalemate eight minutes into the second half with a simple finish.
Vurnon Anita's shot was heading goalwards courtesy of a deflection off Rens van Ejden but as the ball trickled toward goal, the Serbian made sure.
Both sides went quiet after that - one Genero Zeefuik attempt for NEC aside - until Ajax's second 25 minutes later.
Janssen's corner was the catalyst this time, with Ibrahim turning a loose ball to Sulejmani, who turned it home.
Ajax's third came after 82 minutes, with Klaassen placing into the bottom corner just seconds after coming on in place of Lodeiro. source: http://soccernet.espn.go.com
