Kaiserslautern coach Marco Kurz takes his side to Schalke am driven to receive a new contract this week.
Kurz contract was extended for a year until 2013 in a show of support after one of the worst starts to a season in club history.
The timing of the new contract is no accident, either as the club tries to send a positive signal in a difficult period.
"Like the rest of the team, I welcome this decision a lot,''goalkeeper Kevin Trapp said in a news conference.
"It's a clear signal to everyone abroad who want to fight the decline together.
"I think it was the right decision to extend the contract Kurz.''
The Red Devils have collected only five points in his first eight games, but will not travel to Gelsenkirchen with any negative thoughts, according to Trapp.
"Schalke has a great quality, as they did last year, and it will be a tough game, but it is impossible to beat, as we saw last season,''said the Germany Under-21 international goalkeeper.
"We have to strive to the limit and beyond preference.''
Schalke coach Huub Stevens knows all about boundaries, or lack thereof, of Kaiserslautern coach Marco Kurz.
Kurz was part of Schalke 1997 UEFA Cup winning side, which was led by Stevens, but the Dutchman hopes that has not happened in much of his knowledge to a man who is now his rival.
"Like Mike Buskens and Youri Mulder, Marco was a player with a mindset that the team must always come first,''Stevens said in a news conference.
"That will do well in his coaching career. On the other hand, I hope the kids learned something from me then, but not too much, because we want to win on Saturday.''
The two-week break for international matches has allowed Stevens to welcome Sergio Escudero, Christoph Moritz Jan Moravek and injuries.
"We've won a few players who had been forced out by injury beforehand,''said Stevens.
Kaiserslautern team should be the same as for the 2-0 defeat against Stuttgart two weeks ago.
