Mauricio Pinilla put the home team ahead with a penalty in the 28th minute and Abel Hernandez in the 77th minute sealed victory.
However, the result is quite hard against Lecce who, just days after losing 4-3 3-0 advantage throw against AC Milan, wasted many opportunities to get at least a draw at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.
The game started better for Palermo, though, before Lecce improved in the second round.
Eros Pisano went close to giving the hosts the lead in the 22nd minute when he met a left-wing corner with his head, but the combination of Massimiliano Benassi and Chris Obodo managed to prevent the ball from crossing the goal line.
Five minutes later, a breach by Nenad Tomovic on Abel Hernandez in the penalty box but the referee left the choice to offer Rosaneri punishment - and Pinilla opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
Obodo tested Palermo goalkeeper Alexander Tzorvas for the first time with a shot from 35 yards in the 32nd minute and Daniele Corvia lifted a rebound over the crossbar.
Lecce will not accept defeat without a fight, because they indicate the beginning of the second half when a shot just wide Ignacio Piatti post.
However, as they committed men forward in search of an equalizer, the home team were able to find more space on the counter attack and Eran Zahavi set up Hernandez for the second goal on 77 minutes.
Substitute Fabrizio Miccoli wasted one on one with Benassi in the 80th minute when his curling shot wide of the far post and both Hernandez and Zahavi was rejected by the custodian Lecce shortly afterwards.
But even at 2-0 down, Lecce continued to attack with Andrea Bertolacci curved shot over the crossbar in the 89th minute and again in stoppage time approached, but the Apulian who failed to find solace even to go to the spirit of their performance.
