Inter Milan recorded their second win of the Serie A season after relieving past Chievo 1-0 at San Siro.

Thiago Motta became a winner of 34 minutes and Inter finally gave their fans something to cheer it could not win in their four previous matches at home in all competitions and have lost four of their six games in Serie A this time.

The result lifts Inter to seven points, but still leaves Claudio Ranieri's men are fighting on the wrong side of the table, while Chievo two points better than after seeing their four-game unbeaten streak come to an end.

Inter entered the weekend hoping Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League win at Lille would be a turning point in the season, and were soon on top against Chievo.

Giampaolo Pazzini was denied the opportunity to shoot a crucial intervention early defender Santiago Morero Chievo at the expense of a corner, and Mauro Zarate made a stop visiting goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino on 19 minutes.

Inter captain Javier Zanetti fired off on 24 minutes as the hosts continued to press for the first game before Wesley Sneijder saw a long range effort fizz just inches past the post of the half hour mark.

Sneijder Sorrentino took a taxi with a decent free kick before the Dutch helped to take the lead from 11 minutes before the break.

The former Real Madrid man went on a corner and Motta was the end of the same to return home from 10 meters away.

That would be the only goal of the game with neither side able to add the scoring in the second half.

Among the goalkeeper Julio Cesar had to intervene a few times after the break to keep out efforts and Bostjan Cesar Alberto Paloschi, but otherwise had little to do as Chievo, who had picked up eight points in his last four games, struggled to create much to worry about defending the local computer.

At the other extreme, the Nerazzurri could have increased their lead with chances of Maicon, who shot just over 66 minutes before seeing another shot against the bar crushing nine minutes later, and Luc Castaignos and Dejan Stankovic, but Motta end goal was all they needed.
