Barcelona will begin their title defense of the First Division against Villarreal tomorrow night in buoyant mood after adding two more titles to their trophy room increasingly overcrowded in the last two weeks - but coach Pep Guardiola is grounded.



After winning the Champions League and League double last season, Barça beat archrival Real Madrid win the Spanish Supercup 5-4 on aggregate earlier this month before seeing off Porto 2-0 in UEFA Super Cup on Friday.

That last title win was the 12 The club has won since Guardiola took over in 2008, and few would bet against the Catalan club has more than this season.

Barca will be without Brazilian duo Dani Alves (suspension) and Adriano (injury), while captain Carles Puyol has just returned to training after knee surgery in June.

Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez could be in line for his debut in First Division after joining Barca in a big money move from Arsenal and Udinese, respectively, this summer.

Villarreal finished fourth last season, but a huge 34 points behind champions FC Barcelona.

The Yellow Submarine have lost two of his Spanish international this summer, with Santi Cazorla and Joan Capdevila linking Malaga going to Benfica, but so far have managed to keep hold of star forwards Giuseppe Rossi and Nilmar, which are those that scored 50 goals in all competitions last season.
