Paris St Germain winger Nene believes tomorrow night's top-of-the-table clash with Montpellier will prove decisive in the Ligue 1 title race.Carlo Ancelotti's leaders sit a point clear of second-placed MHSC and Nene - whose goal on Wednesday earned PSG a place in the Coupe de France quarter-finals at the expense of Dijon - reckons this weekend's much-anticipated encounter at the Parc des Princes will be pivotal.
Asked if this was a decisive week for the big-spending capital club, Nene, said: "I think so, yes. The first step was the Coupe de France match against Dijon and now we're going to focus on Montpellier.
"Sunday's game is a decisive one against a direct rival for the title and we're playing at home.''
Nene has been impressed with Montpellier for providing PSG with their biggest challenge for the title - Rene Girard's side head into the weekend 10 points clear of third-placed Lille, albeit having played a game more than the champions.
"Montpellier are playing excellent football,'' the 30-year-old Brazilian said. "They are a balanced and very solid team, especially in defence. Montpellier have all the qualities to play for the title and they prove it each weekend.
"At the moment, they're our main rivals for the championship so Sunday will be a massive match for us.''
He added: "We can't let them play on Sunday and must prevent the ball getting to Olivier Giroud, who is an excellent striker. We have to pressure them while keeping our balance and controlling play.
"I think they'll be coming here to win, with nothing to lose, so we'll have to impose ourselves.''
Montpellier coach Girard does not agree with Nene's assessment that tomorrow's game will determine the destination of the league title.
"Given the standings, the match has enormous importance,'' he said. "The build-up has been like a European Cup match in terms of the approach and attention.
"This is the hardest match. But the meeting will not decide the title or who will play the Champions League.''
Girard's side have had a week to prepare for the game with no cup action in midweek, but the coach claims this will not give his players a significant advantage.
"I do not think so,'' he said. "They made some changes. It was not an easy match for them. They took advantage of a blunder by the goalkeeper, but they were always in control.''
Javier Pastore, who netted twice for PSG when the visitors won 3-0 at the Stade de la Mosson in September - looks set to return to the hosts' line-up after a month out with a thigh injury, with Ivory Coast winger Siaka Tiene also back in contention after African Nations Cup duty.
Geoffrey Dernis (knee) misses out for Montpellier, but centre-back Hilton could return after a thigh problem.
