Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti is set to make several changes to his team for Thursday's Europa League Group I clash with Udinese.
The Red and Blacks, who currently lie bottom of the group, must beat the Serie A side if they are to keep their European campaign alive.
Hope arrives from the fact Antonetti's side have not lost in their last nine continental games at the Stade Route de Lorient.
Despite promising to field a "competitive team,'' the Rennes coach revealed he is likely to field a much-changed side from that which beat Evian 3-2 in Ligue 1 at the weekend to keep the Breton side fourth in the standings.
"I have a group of players who are very close to those who have been playing,'' Antonetti told www.lefigaro.fr. "This is an opportunity for them to show it.
"It is also an opportunity for me to reintroduce the injured players and give playing time to those who have not participated in recent weeks.''
Rennes midfielder Stiphane Dalmat will make his 50th appearance in a UEFA club competition if he plays in Thursday's game.
Udinese's away form in Europe is poor and the Italians have not won their last seven games on the road since a 2-1 win over Spartak Moscow three seasons ago.
Like Rennes, Udinese are well placed in Serie A, currently third behind Juventus and AC Milan following a 2-0 victory over Roma at the weekend.
Udinese boss Francesco Guidolin knows a win over Rennes is key to paving the way to the next stage of the tournament.
The Italians are level on points with Atletico Madrid who play Celtic in the other game in the group.
"The match against Rennes will be essential to continue in the Europa League,'' Guidolin said.
"In case of a positive result, qualification is acquired.
"The memory of the first leg (a 2-1 win) is still present, and this time we will also have the purpose of qualification which we hope to secure as quickly as possible.''
