Highlights
Report:
Sweden booked their place at Euro 2012 after two goals in a minute early in the second period secured the victory over Holland in a famous night in the stadium Rasunda.
The Dutch had already booked their ticket to next summer's showpiece as winners of Group E fixtures prior to tonight, but in Sweden the picture was less clear.
Erik Hamren side were already secured second place and a play-off spot, but needed a win tonight to seal the bottom of automatically awarded to the best runner in the nine qualifying groups.
Things looked rosy for the hosts, when Kim Kallstrom shot them in a 14-minute, but the game became the head when Klaas Jan Huntelaar Dirk Kuyt shot level and the Dutch in front on 50 minutes.
But the fightback was swift in coming Swede Sebastian Larsson restore parity on 52 minutes after Jeffrey Bruma handled in the area before Ola Toivonen added a third 60 seconds later to send through Sweden.
Kallstrom fired the hosts in fourth place within an hour after Johan Elmander had been shot down by Mist 25 meters from goal.
Lyon midfielder had the expectation of the people on his shoulders as he stepped up to the set of pieces, but showed no signs of nerves that sent a trademark free kick into the top right corner of the network of Michel vorm.
The initiative lasted only eight minutes, the Dutch back in equally when Erik Pieters crossed from the left and Huntelaar home.
Toivonen had a good opportunity to restore the place of Sweden on 31 minutes when he fired more than six meters, while moments later the leader of the Netherlands Robin van Persie was aimed from a distance but the ball flew wide of the upright.
Sweden's hopes were further dented on 50 minutes when Huntelaar's header was only denied by Andreas Isaksson and Kuyt was on hand to fillet the rebound from close range.
Swedish fans were dreaming again moments later, however, the home team to launch an attack immediately after the restart that led to Bruma, he was having a rough night in the center of the rear of Holland, managing its own box.
Sunderland midfielder Larsson came to take the resulting penalty and won the battle of wits with vorm, tucking the ball low into the left corner.
And in a minute was three for the hosts and Elmander got the ball from the right side of the area for Toivonen to pick up and unleash a powerful left-footed effort high into the net of vorm.
The Swedes were still half an hour of Dutch to resist pressure, with Huntelaar see a header at close range and saved by Isaksson and Mark Van Bommel in the test in the efforts of more than one occasion.
However, a brave rearguard action held off the visitors as Sweden deservedly booked their ticket to Poland and Ukraine.
