Sebastian Giovinco inspired Parma only their second win of the season to leave the Serie A relegation zone.
The Italian international scored twice and created the third party against an off-color Genoa, which suffered its second consecutive defeat.
Giovinco scored his first goal on 29 minutes before adding a second from the penalty spot on 42 minutes. Then he turned provider for the third goal scored by Captain Stefano Morrone on 50 minutes.
Rodrigo Palacio scored a consolation for Genoa with the final release of the game from the penalty spot.
Giovinco was the hero of Parma in the previous victory this season with two goals in a 2-1 win over Chievo and he made the difference again.
His first goal came when he clung to clean pass and beat Sergio Floccari Cesare Bovo, with a good first touch before firing past Sebastien Frey in the roof of the net.
Bovo was about to make amends, but two minutes later, Antonio Mirante pushed the free-kick against the post and cleared the ball Alessandro Lucarelli in front of the Palace.
Giovinco then won and converted a penalty kick for 2-0. He stole the ball across Miguel Veloso and bargained in the area, where he was fouled by Jurak Kucka.
