Teen extreme Zaha, who scored two goals against Crawley in the first round and set two goals Wigan were fired last week, put the Eagles on their way early in the first half.
And it was Zaha cross from Andrew, who last scored for Palace 17 months ago, marked a rare opportunity in the first team with the second after the break.
Merouane Zemmama scored for the visitors, but they clung to Palacio gain some revenge after beating Boro 1-0 in the npower Championship on Saturday.
The fact that there were only seven survivors of the teams lined up at Selhurst Park three days ago is illustrated in the priorities of both clubs are located.
With Boro's top scorer and weekends starting Emnes matchwinner Marvin in the bank and the palace of their hopes for Andrew, who had previously scored three times in three years with the club, hoping for a feast of goals were not exactly high.
But it took 19 minutes to the Palace to take the lead when Jonathan Williams skipped past Kevin Thomson in midfield and sent scampering clear Zaha lashing the ball past Danny Coyne and network.
With the palace in the rise during the first half, Andrew Coyne forced an unconvincing save with a distance of 25 yards, and also had a header deflected wide just before the break.
Glenn Murray came close to dying to find the net after the break when he met with Dean Moxey cross with a deft volley that bounced on top of the crossbar.
Coyne and then twice denied Murray from long range, but the second goal came on 52 minutes when deep cross found Andrew Zaha at the far post.
The former Luton striker planted his header over the Boro defender Coyne and although Stephen McManus helped across the line, nobody was going to tell Andrew that was not his goal.
Boro were thrown a lifeline three minutes later when Zemmama shot flew across the Lewis and prices on the net.
But the price came to the rescue of the Palace on end when every effort to ensure Alex Nimely adventure Cup hosts continues.
