Europa League play-off round draw


No Scottish teams in Friday's draw for the League group stage of Europe after the Rangers, Celtic and Hearts lost their play-off ties.

Premier League sides Tottenham, Fulham and Stoke, however, all take place in the draw after victories simple.

And the Championship side Birmingham are also involved, as are Irish Shamrock Rovers team.

The 38 play-off winners and losers in 10 of the Champions League play-offs in the hat for the draw of 1200 BST.

The 48 teams were divided into four pots on the basis of co-efficient of the UEFA system, with one drawn in 12 groups.

As the four representatives of English, the likes of Atletico Madrid, AZ Alkmaar, PSV Eindhoven and Schalke will be among the big names involved in the draw.

Athletic Bilbao are also in the hat after their play-off opponents, Trabzonspor, were recruited for the Champions League, therefore, give the Spanish team a bye in the group stage of Champions League.

As with the Champions League, no team can meet another of the same association.

Once the draw has been completed a project team will determine the final position of the parties within the group and therefore the order of the home and away.
